Dimensions Guide
All products in this site are measured by individual clients. These clients have measured the equipment they have on hand and have entered the dimensions. For pieces of hardware like power bricks, there is no guarantee that the same model of a device will ship with the exact same power brick. There is a possibility for companies to change power bricks during the life cycle of a product. For that reason, the dimensions are always quoted in the product listing page. You should check the hardware you have and make sure it matches the dimensions quoted.
Power Brick Height
For power bricks, the height of the holder is typically half the height of the brick. That is for many reasons, including saving plastic and allowing for more air flow around the power brick.
Power Brick Depth
Most power bricks have little feet or “nubs” at the bottom. When you measure the “depth” dimension make sure you take that fact into account. If you power brick has protrusions like that, the best way to measure is to lay the brick flat on a table and measure the distance from the table to the top of the brick as shown in the picture.
Tolerances
As is typical with any part, holders need some tolerances as well. When a holder is designed, it cannot have internal dimensions that are exactly the same with the power brick. That will mean that the power brick will barely, if at all, fit in the holder. When the dimensions of the brick are entered, a 1mm tolerance is suggested automatically to be added to the measurement. That is a sufficient tolerance to allow snug but not tight fit. You can adjust the amount of tolerane but adjusting the brick dimensions you are entering.
Units
Athough the wizards allow for entering the dimensions in both mm and inches, they are always converted to mm and kept in that unit throughout. That is because mm is a standard unit of measure when it comes to 3D printing. You will always be shown the inch equivalent but keep in mind that there is always a small roundof error. That error falls within the typical tolerance window of the designs.
